Mi’raj of the Blessed Prophet
[37:180-182]
Allah swt sent His beloved Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم as the Imam-ul-Ambiyah, as the Imam-ul-Malaikah, as the Imam-ul-awwaleen wal-aakhireen, Allah swt sent him صلى الله عليه وسلم as the Imam of all the Prophets, as the Imam of all of Humanity, as the Imam of all those who came before him and all the Imam of all those who will come after him. Allah swt sent him صلى الله عليه وسلم as the Imam-ul-kul i.e. of each and every atom of creation. Tonight we are here to discuss the life of our beloved Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم and specifically the event of the Isra-ul-Mi’raaj – of the Journey of Ascension of RasoolAllah صلى الله عليه وسلم and think what can we learn from this in our life.
Allah swt Commands us in the Qur’an-e-karim that we should remember these special days, that we should remember these days when Allah swt Sends His special Mercy among the Ummah. Allah swt Commands:
وَذَكِّرْهُمْ بِأَيَّامِ اللَّهِ
[14:5]
That they must remember the ayaamillah, the days of Allah swt. Those special days in the history of our Deen, in the life of our beloved Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم. If you look at our Islamic Calendar. The first month is the month of Muharram, and the last month is the month of Dhul-Hijjah and the month of Rajab falls in the middle. In the first half of the Islamic year, Allah swt gave us one happiness in the month of Rabbi-ul-awwal, which is the month in which our beloved Messnger صلى الله عليه وسلم was born. In the second half of the year, Allah swt Gave us another happiness, He Gave us the month of Ramadan, the month in which we draw closer to Him, the month for which we would be spending the next few days of this month, and the month of Shaban in preparation of.
And in the middle of the Islamic year, came the month of Rajab, and on the night of the 27th of this month, Allah swt Called His beloved صلى الله عليه وسلم to Him, Gave him صلى الله عليه وسلم the ranks that nobody ever had been given before. On the 27th night of the month of Rajab, Allah swt Bestowed upon humanity an honour, a rank, a status, the like of which was never bestowed upon any aspect of creation.
If we look at the life of RasoolAllah صلى الله عليه وسلم, his nabuwwah, his prophethood became apparent when he was forty years of age. In other words, his nabuwwat was revealed in front of humanity when he was forty years of age. It comes in hadith that the Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم says:
“Verily, I was a Prophet when Adam a.s was still in-between water and earth.”
It means Prophet Muhammed صلى الله عليه وسلم, because he was Imam-ul-awwaleen, he was actually a nabi from the beginning of time. But, the izhaar of his nabuwwat came upon this world when he صلى الله عليه وسلم was forty years old.
